This month, we focus on one of\u00a0Nordost’s\u00a0longest standing dealers in the UK, Loud & Clear<\/a>, who recently celebrated their 20th Anniversary.<\/span><\/p>\n

With a hugely experienced team of 18 across showrooms and demo suites in Glasgow & Edinburgh \u2013 Loud &\u00a0Clear\u00a0pride themselves on their system synergistic approach.\u00a0They consider\u00a0an audio or audio\/video system as a whole\u00a0\u2013 a system\u00a0which\u00a0should be greater than the sum of its parts. Rather than looking at individual components, a system is all about how products interact and complement each other to give a truly outstanding performance.<\/span><\/p>\n

In the words of Allan Boyd, Glasgow\u2019s MD, \u201cWe have all put together a system which, on paper, should sound amazing, but in reality is a touch disappointing. It\u2019s all about knowing the strengths of each and every component in the chain and knowing what will work together. \u00a0It\u2019s one of the great things about\u00a0Nordost\u00a0cabling and the QRT product \u2013 they add very little \u2013 they just let the system breathe and perform\u00a0to its best.”<\/span><\/p>\n

“Demonstration is the key to what we do \u2013 we all have our personal preferences about the music we love and the way we listen. Both stores have unprecedented demo facilities \u2013 two hifi suites in Edinburgh, as well as a multichannel room, two hifi suites in Glasgow, a multichannel room, and a recently added private demo suite dedicated to the high end on the\u00a0South side of Glasgow.\u201d\u00a0added John Carroll, MD of Loud & Clear in Edinburgh.<\/span><\/p>\n

One of the things that\u00a0sets the Loud & Clear team apart from their local competition\u00a0is their prevailing attitude\u00a0to only offer products that they truly believe\u00a0in, rather than merely sell ‘the latest thing with a five star review’. This consistent philosophy is reflected by the fact that\u00a0many of the\u00a0key brands\u00a0present in the\u00a0store when they opened their doors back in 1996, such as\u00a0Rega, Linn,\u00a0NaimAudio,\u00a0ProAc\u00a0&\u00a0Sonus\u00a0Faber, remain integral parts of their business today. In contrast, the last 20 years have seen the closure of many other hifi\u00a0shops in Scotland, that\u00a0jumped from brand to brand, and review to review.<\/span><\/p>\n

In addition to the company\u2019s focus on performance audio \u2013 Glasgow is also the home of Loud & Clear\u00a0Smarthome\u00a0\u2013 a dedicated team of 5 who specialize in home theatre, multi room audio, lighting, and heating control\u2014 working on projects large and small throughout Scotland and beyond.<\/span><\/p>\n

\"Product<\/a> The Edinburgh store extends its offerings into the\u00a0esoteric\u00a0high end. This is illustrated by having products such as\u00a0dCS, Kef Blades, YG Acoustics\u00a0and Moon\u00a0Evolution\u00a0on permanent demonstration.\u00a0<\/span><\/p>\n

The reality is that the two stores complement each other perfectly! There’s probably nowhere else in Europe where you’d be able to compare the likes of\u00a0dCS, Linn, Meridian, Moon and\u00a0Naim\u00a0alongside\u00a0more specialist brands like VPI, Plato and Merging.<\/span><\/p>\n

There are some clear\u00a0product\u00a0synergies with\u00a0Nordost\u00a0here –\u00a0Moon and\u00a0Nordost\u00a0have partnered up at many hifi shows over the years in the USA, Canada, France, Germany, Sweden and the UK.\u00a0<\/span>\u00a0Similarly, VPI offers Nordost\u00a0internal wiring as an optional upgrade in their tonearms. As a result, many VPI turntables are sold around the world with\u00a0Nordost tonearm cables.<\/span><\/p>\n

Not many hifi dealers can boast owning a record label, but Loud & Clear can! Groove Line Records was established in 2015, and specializes in the reissue of classic disco records. As you’d expect with all things associated with Loud & Clear, attention to detail is second to none, with every release taken from the master tapes, and the vinyl pressings being produced at one of the most renowned pressing plants in the world\u2014Optimal in Germany.<\/p>\n

When you take into account all the diverse areas that the Loud & Clear Group operate in, you quickly realize that there is probably no other dealer like them in the world.
