Review Banner- Heimdall 2 Speaker Cable

We are pleased to share that the Nordost Heimdall 2 Range has been awarded the CANADA HiFi Magazine Editor’s Choice Award! In his article, featured this month in Canada HiFi, George de Sa’s article, “Upgrading an Audio System With Nordost Norse 2 Heimdall 2 Cables”, describes the transformation of his system as he integrates an entire loom of Heimdall 2 into his set-up. The result was apparent:

“[With Heimdall 2] intricacies of the soundstage and venue were laid bare in a most eloquent manner and I was drawn-in closer to re-living the live experience than I’ve ever experienced in my room before”

– George de Sa, CANADA HiFi

Dennis Davis Reviews The Heimdall 2 Headphone Cable

Since its launch last May, the Heimdall 2 Headphone cable has received an overwhelming amount of positive feedback from some of the leaders in the personal audio and headphone industry. However, Nordost’s after-market headphone cable had its first official review published just in time for RMAF. In his article, Dennis Davis of The Audio Beat sang the cable’s praises from its sleek iridescent look to its flexibility and finally to its performance.

“The bottom line is that the Heimdall 2 is the headphone cable to beat… It’s so good that the boost it gives to headphone performance may change your listening habits.”
-Dennis Davis, The Audio Beat

Hi-Fi News Compares the Blue Heaven USB

While it is commonly accepted that audio cables do, in fact, make a significant difference in the performance of a hifi audio system, there are still skeptics when it comes to USB cables. Although USB signals are comprised from a stream of ones and zeros, the construction of the USB cable makes a big difference in how that binary signal is transmitted.

For the second year in a row, Hi-Fi News conducted a group test that shows both the audible and measurable differences between different USB cables.

“[With Nordost’s Blue Heaven USB 2.0] the music enjoyed a natural ebb and flow, the instruments sounding relaxed but poised and delicately detailed, the soundstage eerily ‘black’.” – Hi-Fi News

Danny Kaey Reviews Nordost

Review Banner- tyr and qb8

For most audiophiles, their passion for hifi derives from an unwavering love of music. This enthusiasm for both art, and the tools that allow you to enjoy it, are easily seen in Danny Kaey’s review of a Nordost “system”. This write-up, featuring Nordost’s Tyr 2, Frey 2 and QRT products, was published earlier this year on Positive Feedback.

“Tyr 2/Frey 2/Nordost power filtration in the system noticeably improved the renderings of each track… Individual instruments were far more clearly heard and brought to focus giving you a deeper insight into the music. I hate to sound clichéd, but heck, the stuff just rocked.”- Danny Kaey

Alan Sircom Reviews Valhalla 2

Review Banner- Valhalla 2

Our Valhalla 2 cables have been getting marvelous press coverage from hifi critics worldwide! Here is another review written by Alan Sircom, which was published this June in Hi-Fi+. Alan was very impressed by the performance of V2 and the impact that it is capable of having on a system.

“[V2] does jaw-on-the-floor detail and speed, but it also brings out the grace and the architecture of the music. Put another way, the music is presented unimpeded by the technology used to reproduce the music itself”- Alan Sircom

Marc Mickelson Reviews Valhalla 2

Review Banner- Valhalla 2

You may have seen Dennis Davis’ “First Sounds: Nordost Valhalla 2 — What Nordost’s Valhalla 2 means for the existing Valhalla owner” published in The Audio Beat this past January. The article is Dennis’ firsthand account of upgrading the reference cables in his system from Nordost’s Valhalla to Valhalla 2 and served as a fantastic introduction to V2.

Last month, The Audio Beat published its second look at V2. Marc Mickelson’s review takes a harder look at the Valhalla 2 range and is a great tool to get a better picture of the cable’s construction and what that means in terms of sound.

“[With V2] there is no highlighting, backlighting or soft lighting anywhere– the presentation is too evenhanded for that. Instead, these cables come by the wealth of detail naturally– in more ways than one. It is naturally rendered and integral to the nature of the music signal.” – Marc Mickelson

Mr. Mickelson’s full review is now available on the Nordost website under Reviews.

Hans Wetzel reviews Frey 2 for Soundstage!

Review Banner- Frey 2

The consumer electronics industry is constantly changing. New technologies and upgrades are introduced on a regular basis. In order to stay current with hifi audio’s latest and greatest, it’s important to keep one ear to the ground, so to speak. There are a number of publications available, whether print, digital, blog or otherwise, that provide all of the information needed to stay up to speed. One great example is Soundstage!  A few months ago, Soundstage! published an article, written by reviewer Hans Wetzel, featuring Nordost’s Frey 2 range. In his article, Wetzel looks at the entire loom of our Frey 2 cables including speaker cables, interconnects and power cords—and we are quite pleased with his conclusions!

“If there’s a cable company whose products soundstage with the same breadth and agility that Nordost’s can, I’m unaware of it.” –Hans Wetzel, Soundstage!

Mr. Wetzel’s full review is now available on the Nordost website under Reviews.

Dennis Davis Introduces Valhalla 2 in The Audio Beat

Picture 1484Earlier this year The Audio Beat published Dennis Davis’ review entitled, First Sounds: Nordost Valhalla 2 – What Nordost’s Valhalla 2 means for the existing Valhalla owner. The article is Dennis’ firsthand account of upgrading the reference cables in his system from Nordost’s Valhalla to Valhalla 2. We find this piece to be a fantastic introduction to V2. It’s great to see the reaction our products receive, and to get such positive feedback on all of the hard work and time that went into perfecting our Valhalla 2 cables, Nordost’s most recent reference range.

“My immediate reaction was that I was hearing an advance in the overall integration and musical geometry unmatched by any other upgrade I’ve heard in my system. Ever.”   – Dennis Davis, The Audio Beat

Steve Dickinson Reviews Heimdall 2 in Hi-Fi+ Magazine

Picture 759

If you haven’t checked it out yet, you should take a moment to read Steve Dickinson’s review, Nordost Norse cables: Heimdall 2, which was published in the December 2013 edition of Hi-Fi + magazine.  Reviews like this are a great way to stay informed and they give you a firsthand account of premium products, like our cables. In this piece, Steve takes a look at our Heimdall 2 range in comparison to the first generation of the Norse family, which is impressive in its own right. We are happy that Mr. Dickenson appreciates the improvements that we have made with our Norse 2 cables.

The Heimdall gives a strong sense of scale and authority, but without adding the sort of mass and inertia which drags a system down…The added sense of impetus brought by the Heimdall brings out the extra little kick from the in-between beats which separate a 2/2 from a 4/4 time signature. Tiny inflections are also better resolved, most obviously in vocals but also noticeable elsewhere. This means performances that are carefully weighed and nuanced can be more affectingly portrayed.
