Questions and Answers: Product Warranties

All Nordost products bought from an Authorized Nordost Dealer are covered under warranty. However, to benefit from your warranty, you must register your Nordost purchase. From time to time, we are asked questions about our warranty, what is covered, and how to register products, so we thought that we would answer some of our most-asked warranty-related questions for you here!

Hi-Fi+ Reviews the Odin 2 Tonearm Cable +

With so many hifi solutions out there, it’s important to stand out. Historically, this has never been a problem for our Odin 2 Cables, and it looks like we still don’t have anything to worry about! Alan Sircom’s review of our newest Supreme Reference cable, the Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + is here and he was quite clear in his opinion when he wrote, “this is the best damn cable to hook a turntable to a phono stage. Ever”.

We couldn’t say it better ourselves!

Throughout his time auditioning this stellar tonearm lead, Alan was taken with the detail, dynamics and bass articulation that our Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + brought to his system, saying:

“By rights, this veteran format should have long since faded from view, but Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + reminds us why that simply never happens, because despite its on-paper inferiority to digital, when listening to an album now, it has a sense of dynamic shading and time-sensitivity that makes all digital seem a lifeless affair. There is verve and lust for musical life in those grooves, and Odin 2 Tonearm Cable + will dig it out!”

AXPONA 2022 Recap

It was so good to finally be back at AXPONA for an amazing hifi show! This year, we were happy to treat attendees to a world class reference system featuring our Odin 2 cables. Feedback from the show has been overwhelmingly positive, and we couldn’t be happier with the sound we were able to create with our partners Stenhiem, VTL, Wadax, and VPI. As reviewer Jason Victor Serinus from Stereophile told his readers, “For huge sound in a huge room, you needed to look no further”.

Thank you to all of our friends in the industry who chose to showcase their products with the help of Nordost cables and power products. We’d like to give a special thank you to the show-goers who attended the Nordost demos in the Holm Audio room, who took the time to learn, first hand, how quality cables can make a difference in a home sound system.

Dealer Spotlight: Kennedy Hi-Fi

By Bruno de Lorimier

Kennedy Hi-Fi, situated on Hwy 7 in Markham, Ontario is one of our newest partners.  Owner Markus Bundze and his staff have been helping home and business owners with their audio, video and automation needs for close to 30 years.

I met Markus as a young lad in his early twenties, back in the ’90s when he was just starting out in this industry of ours and learning the ropes at the original store.  The old store was much more modest than the current one and was located on Kennedy Road, hence the name Kennedy Hi-Fi.  Markus quickly acquired an in-depth product knowledge, as well as a passion for the AV business that I always attributed to his inquisitive nature, combined with a genuine desire to perfect his skills and to ultimately strive to deliver the best service.  He and his team are committed to providing customers with an experience they won’t soon forget.  The store is a well-oiled machine, where every detail is important and every team member ads to the overall experience. You will rarely find a system that isn’t fully wired and ready for a demo. All members of the Kennedy Hi-Fi team are consummate professionals devoted to giving the best advice, not on what they like, but more importantly on what will work best for each individual client and their respective budget.

Kennedy Hi-Fi prides itself on constantly seeking the best brands and updating their full range of products in order to offer, design, pre-wire and install systems that their customers will be proud to own and to show off. Thus the addition of Nordost, which they view as an extremely well-regarded name in the cable industry that offers unique sound and technology in contrast with the other brands of cables on display.   As Kennedy Hi-Fi puts, offering Nordost “gives the customer another degree of flexibility in pursuing their perfect sound.”  Nordost also complements very well with the impressive list of other fine brands you will find in their showrooms:  Moon by Simaudio, Focal, Audiovector, Fezz Audio, JL Audio, Klipsch, Naim, Oracle Audio, Parasound, Primaluna, PS Audio, Project, and Rega, to name a few.

If you are looking for a multi-room custom installation, their team of professionals are very well equipped to make your home entertainment dreams come true: full automation, lighting, video, audio, etc… both for indoor and outdoor. They pretty much do it all!  As Markus would say, “No job is too big or too small for Kennedy Hi-Fi.”

The many great customer reviews they continue to receive are a true testament to the kind of service you can expect to get from these guys.  Just take a few minutes to see for yourself on their social media platforms.

Whether you’re in the market to acquire a new piece of gear in the near or distant future, I strongly encourage you to pay a visit to Kennedy Hi-Fi and let Markus, Sean, or Chris show you around, and perhaps indulge them in giving you a demo for a taste of their “savoir faire”.

How to Position Your Sort Kones to Get the Best Sound From Your Components

By Michael Taylor

We all know that Sort Kones are fantastic tools to help get the most from your system.  Getting rid of vibrations that degrade the signal path is essential for clarity and proper imaging.  What some people don’t know is that you can maximize performance just by achieving the best placement possible.

Many people place Sort Kones under components uniformly, essentially using them as new feet.  However, since they are acting as mechanical diodes, their specific placement becomes important. You want them as close to the things that are causing the vibrations as possible.  How do you do that, you ask?

Easy, jump onto your computer and enter the brand and model number of the component you are looking to support into the search bar.  Click images after the results come up and you will inevitably find a picture of the component without its top on, showing the inner workings.  Look inside to see where the parts are located and search for the parts you think would vibrate the most (i.e. power transformers, filter capacitors, hard drives, motors, etc).  Then simply shift the Sort Kones to line up underneath those vibration prone parts.  Once your Sort Kones are in place and the unit is stable, you’re all set.

This one little tweak will allow you to get the most out of your Sort Kones and have your components sounding their best!

By the way, this little trick works for our QPOINTs also.  Just look for the board location and tweak your QPOINT placement based on what you find.

AUDIOKEY REVIEWS Auditions the AC Sort Kone

When we were contacted by Kermit Heartsong of AudioKey Reviews to audition our Sort Kones, we were thrilled to hear that after receiving our three Sort Kone models (AC, BC, and TC), Kermit decided that they were all so impressive that each one merited its own article! The first in this series of reviews is a fervent testimonial of the impact of our AC Sort Kones. In it, Heartsong insists that our Sort Kones be considered a new subcategory of audio component, akin to audio racks, that makes music more enjoyable and involving, and promotes a whole lot of “chair-dancing”.

Heartsong writes:

“The Nordost AC Sort Kones are far more than a tweak, and that to even consider them tweaks denies their stunning music-freeing abilities. We very highly recommend the Nordost Sort Kones as an amazing, stand-alone, portable rack system, that will allow one’s music to sing at a level above.”

At the end of his review, Heartsong dares readers to incorporate Sort Kones into their systems and then remove them, calling such an act impossible. To solidify his praise, Kermit has given our AC Sort Kones the AudioKey Reviews “High Nines” Award for exceptional price to performance ratio, mentioning that the Sort Kones represent the first ‘tweak’ to have ever received one of their awards!
